Do you use denture glue to secure your dentures? Does your denture float in your mouth? Does it come out when you’re eating or speaking? These are all signs that your denture has so much room for improvement! Dentures are removable prostheses that replace missing teeth and restore your smile. They help with eating, speaking, and overall facial appearance. Dentures can be full (for all missing teeth) or partial (for missing teeth in some areas).

Dentures made well can have excellent suction, stability, and support. You can be using little to no glue and feel it is secure inside your mouth. We can use your old photos to be mimicked on your new dentures. You can feel confident and solid that you can chew and speak well in front of people. Allow us to help you or your loved ones.

the process

STEP 1

Initial Impression – Once we determine together what would be best in terms of treatment plan, the doctor takes an impression of your gums (and any remaining teeth) using a soft material.

STEP 2

Final impression – A custom impression tray is made and a final impression taken. This is a very important step in order to confirm retention of the denture.

STEP 3

Jaw records – At the next visit, we take records to capture your natural jaw & face position.

STEP 4

Try-In – We try-in a prototype of your final denture. Here we fine tune the fit, appearance, and speech. Adjustments may still be made during this time.

STEP 5

Denture Delivery – When you come back for your finished dentures, we ensure they fit comfortably. We provide as many post-op visits as needed for to feel comfortable.

FAQ

How do I know if dentures are right for me?

If you have missing or severely damaged teeth, dentures may be a good solution. If you’re not satisfied with your current dentures, new dentures OR implants may be a good solution for you. A consultation with Dr. Kim will help you understand your options and determine the best treatment plan based on your health and lifestyle.

What are the different types of dentures?

There are two main types of dentures: full dentures (replace all teeth) and partial dentures (replace some missing teeth). Both types can be customized to fit your mouth comfortably and naturally.

In both types, Dr. Kim will recommend if an implant can help secure your denture in place with more security. For lower dentures, for example, it is now the gold standard to place a few implants to the denture to “click” onto the implants.

Can dentures be glued in place?

Denture glue is often used to provide extra security and prevent dentures from shifting. However, excess denture glue could be detrimental to your digestion.

Can I eat normally with dentures?

Yes, once properly fitted, dentures allow you to eat most foods comfortably. It may take some time to adjust to new dentures, but many people regain their ability to eat normally after a short period.

How do I take care of my dentures?

Regular cleaning with a soft brush, using a denture cleaner, and removing them overnight to let your gums rest are essential steps in denture care. Avoid using regular toothpaste, which can be abrasive.
