Overdentures

overdenture: a lasting solution for your smile

At Montvale Prosthodontics, we’re here to help you get back to living a life of comfort with overdentures. With overdentures, you will have implants placed that will act as anchors. This allows the denture to be snapped over the implants to increase retention & security. The stimulation from implants will also help to preserve your natural bone, helping to maintain your jaw bone. Overdentures offer longevity, stability, and the confidence you need to keep smiling.

FAQ

How do overdentures differ from regular dentures?

Overdentures are dentures that use dental implants for retention, offering better stability and comfort than traditional removable dentures.

How long do implant-supported dentures last?

With proper care, implant-supported dentures can last 10-15 years or longer. The dental implants provide a solid foundation, ensuring long-term durability. Maintenance may require switching out the retention housing to maintain retention over time.

Are overdentures more comfortable than traditional dentures?

Yes, overdentures can be more comfortable because the implants provide a stable attachment for the denture to stay in place. For the lower denture, two-implant overdenture is the gold standard of care.

How long does it take to get overdentures?

The process of getting overdentures takes several months as your bone needs to heal after the implant placement. This healing time allows optimal success for your bone to infuse with the implant. Don’t worry, you will have a temporary denture while you heal.

Can I eat normally with overdentures?

Yes, overdentures allow you to eat most foods comfortably. Compared to traditional dentures, overdentures double your bite force.
